Pastor Norphlet Terry Brown serves as Senior Pastor of St. Thomas Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Since beginning his pastoral leadership on January 1, 2024, Pastor Brown has emphasized biblical preaching, intentional discipleship, and faithful Christian service.
His ministry reflects a deep desire to lead people into a transformational relationship with Jesus Christ and empower them to live out their faith daily.

His Calling
Answering the call
Pastor Brown accepted Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord at age fifteen and answered the call to preach at age twenty-six. Under the spiritual leadership of Reverend Glenn Barnes at Pine Hill Missionary Baptist Church, he preached his trial sermon on September 3, 2003.
That moment initiated a ministry journey marked by faith, service, and continued reliance on God’s direction.

Seven and a half years of growth
In June 2007, Pastor Brown was called to serve as the second pastor of Newbirth Baptist Church, a congregation established just three years prior. During his leadership, the church experienced dynamic spiritual, numerical, and financial growth.
Worship and Bible study participation expanded, facilities were improved, and organizational debts were fully retired. Pastor Brown served bivocationally throughout his tenure, deepening his discipline and conviction that fruitful ministry balances public service with private devotion.

Committed to Scripture
Committed to the faithful exposition and application of Scripture, Pastor Brown completed certification requirements in expository preaching through the E. K. Bailey Expository Preaching Conference and continued his theological development through Moody Bible Institute.

Equipping adults to grow
In January 2016, Pastor Brown was called as Pastor of Adult Ministries at North Dallas Community Bible Fellowship in Plano, Texas. He and his family relocated that March.
On November 1, 2017, he began serving at Shiloh Metropolitan Baptist Church in Jacksonville as Pastor of Christian Education, Adult Ministries, and Preaching Assistant to Pastor H. B. Charles Jr., serving until February 2022.

Pastor Brown is dedicated to engaging members in intentional discipleship and developing servant leaders. Through expository teaching and practical pastoral care, he encourages believers to model their faith at home, in the church, and throughout the community.

Husband and father
Pastor Brown is married to Cherrie, and together they are blessed with six children. He deeply treasures his role as a husband and father, striving to model in his home the faith he proclaims from the pulpit.
Guided by gratitude for God’s past faithfulness and confidence in His future promises, Pastor Brown lives and serves with joyful expectation.
